Why I have a dislike for extremists, synecdoche and metonymy -- Florida Pastor and the Quran (additional info)

Just merely days ago (more or less longer than that as I just heard about it on Thursday) a pastor from a small "christian" congregation in Florida, USA announced that on the anniversary of the planes crashing into the World Trade Center would also be Burn a Quran day. Just recently the guy who started this said that he would postpone it.

The important message is whether your anti -<insert name of religious group here> is big or small pulling off something like destroying anything or everything held sacred to <religious group>, can bring about an uproar.

    I just looked at the news just now. This place (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hKWWJdTrfALpbYfWB6fM58p6u-pwD9I5P2000) says that he's not going to do it. I guess it was just hype. I still have this feeling that someone else might go through with it. Will it be public? I hope not.
